Doctors appointments
Our appointments are released at 8.30am each day. These appointments are for the same day. If you would like an appointment with a GP, please call on the day you are available to attend/receive a call. We offer telephone and face to face appointments which will be given by the reception team based on the reason for your appointment.
To book please call 01968 672612
We are a training practice so may ask you to see/speak to one of our trainees. They record some consultations for training purposes but this would be agreed up front.
We only have a certain amount of appointments we can offer each day per doctor so may ask you to call back another day at 8.30am if we have nothing left.
Do I need to see a GP?
More than ever, there are services available for you to do self care at home without needing to seek advise from a GP or clinican.
Our reception team will ask you a series of questions. For example, what the problem is, who you might have been dealing with already, and how long it has been going on for.
This is to help guide you to the most appropriate clinican or health care professional.
- We have a number of team members they can guide you to.
- We now have a physiotherapist who can directly deal with many muscular problems, a dedicated pharmacy team and a Mental health nurse.
- These are in addition to our doctors and nurses.
If you provide us with as much information as possible, we will get you the best person to see or speak to.
Other appointments
You can also book appointments in advance for our Nursing Team, Physiotherapy Practitioner or Mental Health Nurse.
Nursing team
Our Nurse and Phlebotomist appointments can be booked in advance. You can call us on 01968 672612 between 9.30am and 4.30pm to book an appointment for our nursing team.
Physiotherapy and mental health
These clinics run most days and can be booked through our reception team in advance by calling 01968 672612 after 9.30am
Every GP practice in Midlothian has an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner attached to the practice who you can speak to if you have a muscle, bone or joint problem.
Please visit the NHS Lothian website for details of how to self refer
We have a mental health nurse attended the practice 3 days a week. You can book this through reception for a telephone call. A further face to face appointment will be arranged if required.
Sickness certificates (fit notes)
You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.
You can complete the form below if you have been already signed off by or a GP or a health care professional has advised you to be signed off.

Home visits
Please be aware that our GPs will always call to assess the home visit request first.
If you need a home visit, you can help us by calling reception before 11am.
Telephone: 01968 672612.
Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible.
You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. Your GP will only visit you at home if they think that your medical condition requires it and will also decide how urgently a visit is needed. Please bear this in mind and be prepared to provide suitable details to enable the doctor to schedule house calls.
You can also be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby.
Change or cancel an appointment
Please try to be on time for your appointment. If you are late you may have to rearrange your appointment.
To cancel your appointment:
If you need to cancel let us know so we can offer the time to someone else. If you don't tell us, and don't attend a number of times, we may be removed you from our practice list.
Out of hours
Enhanced access
In addition to our core service, we have early morning appointments on Monday to Wednesday from 7am which are used by our nursing team to manage patients with chronic diseases.
Minor injury unit
Urgent treatment centres are a facility you can go to if you need urgent medical attention, but it's not a life-threatening situation.
At the moment, the NHS offers a mix of walk-in centres, urgent care centres, minor injury units and urgent treatment centres, all with different levels of service.
By Autumn 2020, these will either be called urgent treatment centres or change to offer other primary health care services.
Urgent treatment centres aim to offer a more consistent service wherever you are in the country.
They're GP-led and open for at least 12 hours a day every day of the week (including bank holidays).
They're equipped to diagnose and treat many of the most common ailments people go to A&E for.
You may be referred to an urgent treatment centre by NHS 111 or by a GP. You can also just turn up and walk in.
Conditions that can be treated at an urgent treatment centre include:
- sprains and strains
- suspected broken limbs
- minor head injuries
- cuts and grazes
- bites and stings
- minor scalds and burns
- ear and throat infections
- skin infections and rashes
- eye problems
- coughs and colds
- feverish illness in adults
- feverish illness in children
- abdominal pain
- vomiting and diarrhoea
- emergency contraception
